Help with a problem
When I first start my car cold, it sputters and then stalls out. On the second try I have to give it some gas to keep it going and then the car settles down and is ok. This only happens when I start the car after it has been siting for 18hrs or more. Any ideas? TIA.

Have the fuel pressure checked, and also scan for any DTC fault codes stored.
An important aspect of the fuel pressure spec, it the requirement that the fuel rail feeding the injectors, maintains pressure above a minimum, for more than the minimum time. Fuel pump may be weak and slow to develop good fuel pressure during start up. There may be one or more fuel injectors leaking fuel after engine shutdown, etc.
If the proper fuel/air mix is available in the cylinder, and a correctly timed spark occurs for ignition, and the engine is in good condition mechanically, it must start and run.

Would fuel pressure that is too low trigger a DTC?
Every now and then my car turns over a bit longer before starting and I was wondering if I had a fuel pressure drop but no DTC ever came up. When I get my fittings for my high flow fuel rail setup, I will check the pressure, the rail comes with a fuel pressure gauge port that makes it easy to check the pressure.
Thanks in advance for the info.
