alright - i lost my head about in the fall and put hex head screws on my plate to keep it from getting liberated -
the problem is, they are non-stainless. therefore they have rusted - a bit, ok - they are frozen - to the holder in the plastic for the rear plate. I got one out, but two are fairly well-seized and I think i twisted the metal backing out of the plastic plate holder.
so i have a few questions to help me get out of this mess -
1. the plastic holder looks like it is held to the truck lid with 3M special tape. - if it is, is there some solvent not so harmful to my paint to get it off so i can attack the rusted parts with WD40 or something from behind?
2. if i've trashed the plastic holder because the built-in nuts that that join with the screws have come loose, can i order the plastic plate holder and 3M tape to replace/repair?
any other suggestions?

in response to your question, I believe the plate holders are screwed in...I know the front ones are definitely screwed in.
as for getting a replacement, that's definitely possible...just go to an audi dealer and ask for it - if they don't stock the part, they should be able to get it fairly quickly

Don't just pull it off ![Smile](https://www.audiworld.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
I did nearly the same thing, I don't remember how i got the screws out but I do know that the end result was buying a new plate frame for $90cdn. I think I just dremeled the old plate frame? Not ringing a bell... sorry.
