If you do a lot of city driving, or if you want an automatic get the CVT

Default Because, while the weight difference is negligible, quattro's mechanical loses aren't.

Note the times given in the Audi literature are manual, tip, and CVT - no mention of times with quattro. Now just wait for the quattro religious fanatics to chime in. It gets boring, fast.

However, if CVT was available with quattro, I'd have bought it and chipped to make up the power difference it costs.

Default Actually...

The A4 brochure says the following on 0-60 times

1.8TM - 7.8 sec.
1.8TQM - 7.9 sec.
1.8TCVT - I either says 7.8 or 7.9. Can't remember.

Default Quattro is very heavy???? NOT!

1.8TQM = 3406 lbs.
1.8TCVT = 3362 lbs.
difference = 44 lbs.

I hope this is not the reason you chose CVT. If so you could have had Quattro for just 44 lbs.

CVT is fun. I test drove it and loved it. But all you CVT owners have to admit, you made a sacrafice when you chose CVT. Now you want to justify your choice by saying the CVT is lighter or it's faster. But the numbers don't prove this out. These are not good reasons to sacrifice Quattro and get CVT. Get it because you don't want stick, don't need/want Quattro, and the CVT is a great transmission.

Don't want to ruffle any feathers. I really like the CVT. I am just tired of the misinformation and half truths about weight and speed when comparing 1.8TQM and 1.8TCVT.

Well, keep in mind the 02 chassis overall adds a good bit of weight over the 01...

Say word! I get plenty of traction with front trac, and the CVT tranny really moves the car!
