I have seen a few places where screws exist...one under the airbag indicator above the seat...two on the handle...is this easy...anyone do a write up...just had someone diss me for not hiding mine. Yes, I prefer to hard wire it...anyone hard wire it to the light in the upper console? Thanks.

and the result is a nice clean install with no loose wire that can snap out in the event of a side airbag deployment. I use plastic zip ties to fastenthe wire to the existing wires along the A-pillar.
Follow the steps in this post. I know, this is for an A6, but the steps are essentailly the same other than the hidden wire-release in the A-pillar. The B6 A4/S4 has no such mechanism.
I did this removal for a local S4 owner (moTAP) for a hardwire V1 at a recent GTG. Clean install, he is happy, and it really does not take too much effort to do this. Putting the trim back in was a bit tricky, making sure that the clips running along the A-pillar are latched with the slots (you will know what I am talking about).
One tip for reinstallation, start with the lower end that inserts into the dash area first, then make sure you have those clips lined up with the slots. It took me two tries to get the A-pillar trim on correctly.
Good luck, and feel free to shoot me an e-mail if you have more questions about the A-pillar removal or the V1 install.
