Default Hissing sound from under the rear part of car

Hi all,
I have an A4 1.8T, 2002, with 70K miles. Recently I noticed that high pitched hissing sound that comes from the rear part of the car. I pinpoint the car from somewhere in between the two rear wheels.
The noise is not there all the times. Usually when the car is idle it disappears, but then re-appears when press on the gas.
Any ideas what the problem might be?

thanks in advance,
nick

Default Could it be a humming sound? Rear right?

Could be the fuel filter/pump but if it disappears at idle...

Get louder as you go faster?

I don't think I have ever changed it, unless it;s part of the regular maintainance

I can hear it from both sides ... but I will pay closer attention if it's louder on the right.

I change my fuel filter every 10-15K miles. Change it asap.

Default I thought it could be a fuel filter too but if the noise is gone during idle...

and comes back during acceleration, it makes me think it could be something else.

I thought the humming was just constant, idle or no idle. At least on mine it was.

In any case he's due for a new fuel filter.
