Default Holy crap $199 for this spoiler shipped

The spoiler is $199 shipped to your door ready to paint. Or for $265 it comes painted + shipped. Its not Votex, its the one from SPP. What do you guys think?

Default I would pay the extra $66 to have it painted.

Most body shops want at least 2-3 hours to paint. It only takes 1 hour max but they have to clean the paint gun, etc. Few body shops want this small job, so they tend to overcharge.

Default Might work on some colours, but there can be paint variations

even when using the same paint code. On metallics, always match the paint in person if you want it to be perfect. If you're just looking for close enough, then by all means use the code.

Default Very true...and also if you guys part outside under sunlight all day and never wash/wax your car...

your car's paint may have faded, so factory paint code may still turn out slightly different from your car. The difference is not very noticable, unless you stare at it from within 5 feet. My spoiler is so very slightly darker than the rest of my car, but you cant tell...most ppl wont catch it unless they stand right next to it and try to compare...but thats what happens. You can never get a perfect perfect paint job/match because paint just fades...right april? =) Even my stock bumper didnt match the hood perfectly...but i'm guessing thats because different material...

Default Yes, all paint fades - even if very slowly. However a really talented body shop will

do an exact match. I've had my wheel arch flares repainted a few years back. The car was about 10 years old at the time. Came out perfect. To this day no matter the angle, you can't tell. It wasn't cheap though ;-)

The one thing to keep in mind is that SoCal air quality standards require a different clearcoat mixture than what is used at most paint facilities at the factory. It often ends up slightly more yellow as a result. A good painter adjusts the colour underneath to compensate for this.

Even then, if all you are doing is painting by paint code, within each batch there are slight variations that show up ever so slightly different on the car. Most hard core custom paint shops will ask to keep the gas door from your car during the painting to make sure they have an exact match.

Default good info...your an expert with everything...hahaha =)

But dont scare these ppl now. It's not even that dramatic if at all different. Shooting it the factory paint code would be very very close indeed.

Default It should be close, if the painter is good. It just MIGHT not be exact.

Knowing how **** most Audi owners are.... ;-)

Default Eric gets his stuff painted at one of the best shops in So. Ca I believe...

they do all the show cars, so their standards are pretty high. I dont think he is making money on the paint option unlike other places that charge $150 for paint on a small little spoiler?!? Insane...

Default If they aren't matching each car individually then there are savings. If they paint them in bulk

( like a GB ;-) then there are more savings since the shop can set up for painting spoilers exclusively for a longer run.

If you are really picky though, nothing beats having it custom matched to your specific car :-)
