Default Mmmmm espresso....

Starbucks makes a good espresso machine thats reasonable, or if you're really hardcore, pick up a traditional macchinetta (stovetop espresso maker, think coffepot kind of). It what I use when I want espresso (all nighters). Works great, never fails, and much cheaper than a machine

Default I have an electric moka machine for my desk at work (vs. stove top).

As for hardcore, see the link below for really hardcore people. I'm an enthusiast, and maybe an espresso snob, but these folks are on another planet, but the forums have some useful info.

Coffeegeek.com-for the coffee Ultra

Lol thanks for that. Seriously. Oh wow I'm all giddy now at the thought of better espresso. The stuff I make is crap. Jet Fuel (hell I could probably pour it in my tank and run APR 100 OCT software on it), but its coffee.

Default There are guys in there that add external temp and pressure gauges to their coffee machines!

It's like us with our darn boost gauges. Those guys are nuts!

Default If you are looking for a new one, we picked up the Jura XS90 last year.

It has been amazing. It is from the commercial line so it can be difficult to get, but it is well worth the money. We have never had an issue and the technical support team is good to work with. We also installed the hardline kit and tapped it into the water line from the ice maker on the fridge. let me know if you need any info on them. You can get one of these for about $5k. If you want to spend less check out the Jura-Cappresso consumer lineup. they have some starting at about $1200.

really convenient for me too.

Default Lol I actually brought this whole discussion up with my parents at dinner...

They apparently have some client (they're both architects) who has one built into his counter/cabinet setup and has pressure and temp guages installed in the countertop. They said that, and I commented that its like adding a boost guage in our car. I come back here and see that the point had already been made. Strange how Audi owners think alike.
