Hose identification
Hi,
Went to check out why my wife's 2003 3.0 quattro was having a hard time starting even with a good battery. While looking around, I found three hoses lying near each other. Two had broken bits of a connector still attached. A third hose was lacking any pieces stuck within. I'm assuming a Y-connector connected all three. I'm attaching photos and hope that someone can ID where they go to, if all three are to be connected together and what their purpose is. Also would this cause rough idling or fault code of bank below threshold?
Thanks in advance to those who can help.

cheap 3-way connector at your local auto parts store
I forget where those lines are routed to as it's been ages since I worked on a 30V, but a vacuum leak that large will definitely lead to hard starting and crappy idle. Snip 1/4" off the end of one of them and bring to the store to check the fit.

Update
Stopped by the auto store and picked up a plain T-connector just now from my way home from work. Car still had a hard time starting. But it has smoothed out during idle, that is until I put it into gear. Once in gear, it starts shaking as if one of the cylinder is out (same experience when one of the coil went bad). It smoothed out in gear (not moving with the brake on) as the engine warmed up.
Starting was still concerning. I'll hold the key for about 6 - 7 seconds (normally a twist and one to two second at most). Engine turns strong but no catch. I'll have to repeat this one or two more time until it fires over. The only thing different is I just got it back from having the timing belt, serpentine belt, water pump, pulleys and spark plugs replaced.
I'd appreciate if anyone can confirm if this is a plain connector vs a check valve. I tried to explain this to Audi/VW parts guy but got the, "bring it in to service for a check." Don't get me wrong, I do understand it's hard to verbally describe.
Thanks to everyone for their feedback.

That is a great picture.
I would start by tracking all those vacuums to see if they are connected. After that, you will probably have to download codes and work from there. If it were a 1.8, I would say you have an ESS going out.
