How do I get the plate and bolt on the bottom bolt

When I did mine, I stuck a rasp through the linkage and into the hole in the lever. Then I slid the plate down over the rasp to line it up. Next, I bent a coat hanger into a hook and hooked underneath the lever to pull it up flush to the linkage. Then, use the Allen key or your fingers (if small enough) to start threading the bolt. From there, you should be able to finish it off. It took me almost an hour of trying before I got creative. Good luck.

I was never able to get mine all the way out. I ended up pulling it out as far as I could, and hten just tilting it up to work. When you say you can't get it in, does that mean you can't get it in at all or you can't get it to seat right? Mine would seat right, and I found that it was the insulation behind it that was getting in the way. I had to reach down under the ashtray and pull it out of the way while my brother put it in place. After quite a few tries, I finally got it. Let me know.
