Default They look like this...

Default The bumpy you are feeling is probably the tightness of the sport suspension. Springy is it (m)

rebounding quickly. its not up and down for more than a second is it?
I love the tight feel of the sport suspension. Your never floating all over the place.

Gee...thanks... I guess I'll just drive on the freeway, back and forth allday, cause that's the only smooth road in town. Unfortunately, that won't get me to work or anywhere else around here.

Default Posting despite fear of retribution

ykmsmalls is my g/f, so I don't want it to get messy in here but let's clear a few things up:

car came with the Conti Sport2's (235/45/17)
the blocks are out
haven't checked air pressure, but my initial guess is they're at least above 32lbs (maybe higher)

I understand the concept of sidewall profiles and their effect, past mini-truck and lowered Honda Civic owner both w/aftermarket susp. mods. so trust me, I get it.

My question is will a 235/50 or 55/17 fit in there so we can reach a compromise? Personally, I 'd hate to see the $$ go bye-bye, but I don't see why it wouldn't work. Somebody wanna buy a new set of Conti's with only 300 miles on 'em?

Default I thought the same thing at first (m)

In June 2002 I picked up my A4 with the sport package and for the first few months I was wondering if I made a mistake because of the very firm and somewhat bouncy ride. Now, at 9000 miles, the car is much less bouncy and, truthfully, it feels perfect. I believe the sport suspension has a 'break-in' period. I would get it again!

Oh, thank you! Whew! Nice to hear that you understand what I'm talking about and really glad to hear that there is still hope. I was really starting to have some serious buyers remorse

Default That might work, but you are going to change the overall diameter of the tire by 7%!

I guess changing the diameter of the tires (+7%) would work and lowering tire pressure. You are also going to affect turning radius. There is a fear of rubbing, but you should probably check with Eddie in the Wheel/Tire forum as he can give you better advise.

Personally I would go with 16s to preserve the tire diameter. You are going to better off with the weight savings. (16" are like 10-15 lbs lighter each!, that's a good way to shave ~ 100 lbs of dead weight off the car (4 x 12 x 2 (unit factor for wheel weight vs. dead weight.)) Another problem that you will run into is that you will not have a usable spare (+7% is too much for Quattro to compensate for.) At least with 16s, you still have a usuable spare. I'm sure there's someone on this forum who would want to trade their 16s for 17s.
