How do you get the black gunk off your tail pipes?

Default How do you get the black gunk off your tail pipes?
I washed the A4 today... and short of scrubbing on them for an hour each, the black **** wouldn't come off.
What do people use to get the black crap off the chrome pipes?

If you don't have metal polish steel wool and soapy water works well.

Default Do you mean the inside lip where the black stuff collects?
If so, who cares if it leaves scuffs. It looks like **** there anyway. I polished my stock tips and made them look pretty damn good. I forget what grain but I just used a very fine sandpaper, green scratchpad, and metal polish. I did the whole tip and it was pretty shiny. I just deleted the pics I had in poster, sorry.
