I have an 02 A4 and in Illinois I guess it is the law for front plates. I've got the black mount(dealer left it in the trunk), but how do you mount that to the bumper? Thank you in advance for your help.

...you run into a fitment problem if you don't bolt down all four corners of the license plate. I used stainless steel security hex bolts with T-nuts behind the plastic.

Had to snip away parts of the reinforcing lattice work on the back to snug the T-nuts flush. You do not cut off the two uppper posts the plate normally screws into. Drill a hole just large enough in the post so the T-nut shank can go all the way inside. The hot glue seals everything up and locks in the T-nuts so they won't move when the security bolts are tightened. You could always spray paint the holder to match the bumper.
Nicest thing about NOT using a frame is you get to see all the graphics you paid for on your custom plates.
