Default My friend's wife has the 9090s on her B6...

and she has no problems with them in winter. Some tires just perform better than others. My Conti Sport2s are teh suck in snow OTOH.

Default Get all-seasons.

I live in San Diego too and drive to Big Bear 10-15 times a season and Mammoth 2-3 times a season. Risking it on summer tires is not good, especially if the conditions are R2. I just got a set of all-seasons a couple weeks ago and just being able to drive in the cold/snow without your stomach in a knot is worth it. As others have said, don't run chains on a quattro unless you're planning on getting a new car soon.

Default stop endangering those smart enough to properly equip their vehicle for given conditions. If you

drive an audi, you should have enough to spring for a set of winter specific tires, or you should use all-seasons. Otherwise, no matter how many wheels are driven, you are risking others lives, PERIOD. (not aimed at you tony, I know you said your friends wife... so tell her)

Default I think at R3, they'll close the roads anyway--not worth risking it up there even with a snowplow

But I would also like to know how well ContiContactSport2's would work up in Tahoe/Reno at R1 and R2?

Default Are you sure u mean ContiSportContact2? They're summer tires; it would be an accident waiting to

happen at even R1.

Not sure how "light" this season will be up in Tahoe/Reno, but I might as well search for allseasons
