lots of older B5's with 1.8Ts are still on the road today. Sometimes I check out ebay motors and some on there have 100k+.
As long as you take care of it maintenance wise, syn oil, keep fluids/components in check, it should go 100k+ easily without much needing to be replaced. Of course, once engines reach that mileage/age and beyond, components most likely will start to wear out.
