I talked 'em down $20,000!
But they only gave me $1 for the Ferrari GT360. 
Unless I see signed paperwork on both sides of the deal (purchase price and trade in) this is a lot of fishermen, blow hard, anecdotal, unverifiable bragging or someone on the "friends and family" plan. Sheesh! Do your own dealing and don't lose any sleep about it.

Gotta love people like that...
who just throw out a bombshell like that without any specifics or explaination. Just like it's a common every-day occurance.
With Audi having no holdbacks or anything like that, there's got to be some information we're missing here (ie, Dad owns dealership, just bought 25 Audi's, owed owner a gambling debt, car has no engine or rear doors, etc.).
Guess what! I paid $5,000 for my 2003 A4 !!!!
... and the bank paid the remaining $26,000.
