How much should I pay for a used 2003 3.0 CVT?
for sale by dealer. the car has 3000 miles. it also has a Full Leather option which i don't really want.
how much below invoice should i pay?
btw, I have the option to custom order (3 month wait) a new 2003 3.0 CVT for $1000 over invoice plus 1.9% financing. I believe I'll need to pay about 6% intrest to finance the use car.

No data on the market for an almost new CVT. Don't think anyone here has sold one yet.
A car is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. Demand dictates everything. If dealer can sell lots of new CVTs, they shouldn't have a problem selling an almost new one.
Sounds like the dealer had an un-wind. That means they gave the car to the customer after signing papers on the gamble that the bank would approve the deal after the fact. A number of things can happen to make the deal fall apart. Dealer takes too large a risk knowing customer may not get financed, customer mis-represented something on the credit application, etc. Now the car is basically new, but to the next customer, they see a used car. Dealer still owes or has paid AoA the invoice cost very recently. How much a loss they are willing to take, depends on how easily they think they'll sell the car.
If the car has been used as a demo and never registered, then technically it is still a new car as far as the DMV and warranty are concerned.
All you can do is ask.

Very odd as that person would to have spent thousands in depreciation.
Oh well. I'd try a few percent below invoice and watch for the reaction. Adjust upward as needed, or you feel you'd rather have the ordered car.
