Default How much would it cost to get a stock 1.8t up to 300hp?

My friend has a 1.8t and I have a 3.0. Both cars are stock engine wise. The debate is who would spend the most to get to 300hp (no NOS). I know all I have to do is spend about $5300 for a PES SC and that's rated at 300 or 320hp depending on exhaust and intake or not. I don't believe anyhing else is really required except maybe better front brake pads & rotors.

What kind of turbo would my friend need to get the same or more power out of his 1.8t and what other mods are necessary to sustain the power? I know he'll need a bigger oil cooler, front brakes, injectors, and possibly stronger internals for the engine. But would all that be significantly cheaper than just a SCer?

BTW, where do you buy a GT3071 or 3076 turbo? Wondering how much they are. The smaller t-28 at PES is $4295! That's a lot of cash!

Default You answered your own question about cost. PES T28 or Stage3+ will do it.

Injectors included I think. You'll need a brake upgrade too, so that's a wash.

For the big turbos, try a web search. You'll find sites like boostfactory.net, horsepowerfreaks.com, performance-cafe.com and the like.

There is no PES T28 kit for the B6. The closest equivalent is the AWE BT kit.

Default drop in per drop in, about the same price for the apr stage 3--$5299 not including labor

supposedly 340hp.

1.8t is lighter than the 3.0 because of engine size bt 3.0 has the bigger brakes so supporting mods would stil be needed.

Gotcha. But I'm seeing some turbo kits for like $1300 claiming 300hp. Guess he'd come out cheaper

Default And I'm at almost $13k in mods (yikes!), and still really haven't played with the turbo

SO that should give a rough idea of how much it all costs.

I think I've dumped like 20-25K. Still pathetically slow.
