Default I called Audi USA about the center console issue

First let me start off by saying, that I really like my new A4 and think it is a great car, but I am very unhappy with this center console rubbing on my knee. It totally bothers me, the driver is squeezed into the seat. This is my second A4 and did not have this issue with the previous generation. I called Audi USA and they said to have others with the same complaint call in. I know this has been a problem for a few of us on this forum, so please speak up.

Maybe Audi can do something about this

Default so its worse than the '01?

I am not tall or anything (5'8") and the center console on my 2001 bothers me. I can't believe it is worse in the 2002.

Default It would certainly be an interesting voluntary recall... :)

If they were forced to do something about it, they'd probably do a voluntary recall that would involve replacing the center console with something different. That's a pretty extensive swap though, as that whole center console and the extension back to the armrest is one piece. However, judging by the Bentley CD, there's no subframe for the console in the area where they'd have to open it up for the knee. i.e. The console would just have to be a different shape - no drastic changes to the rest of the console area.

Default I did that picture back in September after the first time I sat in the car. At the time I was really

upset because I felt this was going to be a huge problem. However, I quickly found that it is/was not a big deal. Nevertheless, I can certainly see where you and others have a problem with the design. Good luck.

Default I have the same problem. I am in the process of manufacturing a urethane foam knee pad...

I designed one that follows the curve of the center console. It will be available in black, grey, beige and blue. I have the design for the pad finished. I am in the process of deciding on how to attach it to the console. The easiest way to do this is with some 3M double sided tape. I have talked to 3M and found a double sided tape with would fit this application. The other consideration is to attach the pad to the console via a clip method. The tape method would be the cheapest way to go, and it would look very neat. The clip method would cost more and might not look as good. Please give me your feed back on attachment method. Tape cost target:$10-15ea, clip cost target:$15-20ea. I'm about 2 weeks away from production. Thanks.

Or email them the picture of the padding that NuA4 put on the part where his knee rests.
