The dealer replaced the complete airbag assembly under warranty.
I have a feeling that's what you're experiencing.
Try this simple test - when the car is stationary with the engine off, hit the bottom of the steering wheel with your palm. If you hear rattle from the airbag area you need a new airbag.
I hope you're under warranty.
And I thought I was the only one with this problem.

or if the car has been sitting outside in the cold for a long period of time. My steering wheel doesnt rattle, it sounds more like the steering column as you said, or something else in the dash in front of me. It however goes away as the car warms up.
