benefits of each? I got the ticket Driving on route 9 upstate NY cop coming other way gets me. He said ticket would be 0-$150 if i plead guilty. Last two tickets i pleaded not guilty got a parking ticket and other one dismissed. Probably have to miss work if plead not guilty. Radar is broken and after this ticket its the last straw no dinner with the lady this week im sending it in for repair. im Open to all comments and responses. thanks in advance.

you show up in court, dressed nicely and being respectful, it doesn't matter much what you plead. They will probably drop the charge down a notch or two.
It's all dependent on the judge. But traffic violations are usually more about revenue generation than anything else.
Then again if there are no points attached, it may be simpler to just pay up and skip court. Time is money.

There are many ways a lawyer can have the charges reduced, or dismissed. Compared to the cost of the fine, and increased cost of insurance, the several hundred dollars for the attorney to represent you, is a good deal. And, you don't need to appear in Court. If everyone who gets a ticket would require the charges be proved in Court, the motivation for governments to use traffic tickets as a revenue generation mechanism would be eliminated. For example, I received a ticket for 55 in a 35, and my lawyer asked the DA for the discovery, the file was never sent to my lawyer in time, so the judge dismissed the case. My lawyer's fee was only $225.

For a 6-point speeding ticket conviction (21-30 mph over the limit ), the New York DMV will impose another fee called the Driver Responsibility Assessment Fee of $300. With this program in addition to the actual fine for the violation, a conviction to a New York State speeding ticket can get very expensive.

plus, your insurance rate will increase with a conviction.

has been long & arduous and the fines were for much more (Jersey & their doubling fines in 65 zones)
