Does anyone know how to remove Front License plate bracket from2012 a8l, without scarring the grille?

Unscrew the bracket. Why would you damage anything?

My concern is, is there a mounting bracket behind the plate holder which may not be removable. My dealer service said to remove it properly, they would have to remove the front bumper assembly, Yes, sounds extreme to me also. This is why I'm looking for someone who has done it.....

Is the holder any different from stock? Mine just screws into the bumper:

Pretty easy to get off the car.

It turns out that the bracket was easily removed by taking out three Torx head screws. Other than three small screw holes hidden down in the grille there is no real evidence of the mount being there.
