I just got pulled over on campus.... cops really have nothing better to do with their time.

First of all my campus has 3 speed limits. 20 MPH, 25 MPH, 35 MPH in the main road looping through the campus. Cops are always using Ka-band radar and more so laser on campus and of course they sit around curves right where the speed limit drops take place. Anyway since I know this I never even consider going 1 MPH over the speed limit. I see the cop hiding around a blind turn, but I'm going 20 MPH so I'm fine. No radar, no laser, but sure enough as I pass by him he pulls out rather quickly. My front windows are down and my rears are legal, so what gives?
He then follows me for about 3/4 mile and I'm wondering what the hell I did wrong.
Finally he turns on the lights and I pull into a parking lot to our immediate left.
He walks over to the car and says license, registration, proof of insurance.
I ask in the nicest way possible did I do something wrong?
He responds, "you have an obstructed lisense plate".
Now I know the law says nothing, not even a clear cover is legal, but I bought the damn tinted cover because it looks good and because for whatever reason the lettering on the vanity plates seems to fade.
Anyway he literally has me sitting there for 12 minutes (I stared at the clock). He comes back with a warning and asks if I have any questions.
I said are clear covers legal? I only bought it because my letters were fading. He said no and I included the statute information on your ticket so you can look it up.
I then asked how much the ticket would've been and he said non-moving, no points, but $71.50.
I'm sitting there thinking people speed on campus, people drink and drive, people smoke weed and drive, there are accidents everywhere and he pulls me over for this... come on!
You be the judge and this picture is taken in the shade so if anything it should seem dark in this picture.

EDIT: I just read the warning and it also notes that part of my yellow registration sticker is covered by a black frame. Now that is just petty and excessive to say. 99% of cars have the sticker ever so slightly covered. I will not be removing my tinted cover and frame!

Were you looking at him with the same face as in the pic you attached? ![Smile](https://www.audiworld.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
I agree, pretty poor reason. But at least he didn't give you a ticket - which he could have.
Worst one I was involved in was RCMP on campus at UBC. They pulled over a buddy of mine (I was a passenger) for stopping to let a person straddling a bike at a pedestrian crosswalk to cross the road. The cop pulled us over and gave my buddy a warning , stating that he shouldn't have stopped since a person straddling a bike is considered vehicle traffic, and therefore did not have the right of way. If they were standing off the bike, then they would be a pedestrian.
WTF?! So much for being nice to pedestrians!

yeah I must've given him the goofy eyes half open look ![Smile](https://www.audiworld.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
That is ridiculous to be pulled over for being a good samaritan. Funny thing is right before I was pulled over there was a guy sitting at a stop sign blocking the road while talking to a pedestrian.
He should've pulled that guy over!
