Does any body know this answer.
Radio schematics would be helpful.

Default You mean in the connector on the back of the radio? (more)

Multi-pin connector IV, 10-pin, red

1 - Telephone mute (AF mute)
3 - Telephone (AF+) (not on vehicles with navigation system)
4 - Telephone (AF-) (not on vehicles with navigation system)
5 - Navigation system (AF+)
6 - Navigation system (AF-)
7 - Navigation system control wire

Default I think so. My handsfree install guy said he needs to know the polarity of the PHONE mute pin.

Hurm.. The Bentley CD doesn't give the polarity (that I can tell) in the wiring diagrams...

Default Try grounding it through a 2.7K resistor. That'll protect it during the test and...

...you can see if it mutes out.

It is a negative input(Shorted to ground) to enable radio mute, display of "PHONE" and routing of audio from phoone to front speakers. Connect output from Hands free kit to phone input for radio mute. The connections are marked on the back of radio unit.
