Default I normally change my oil every 5K miles but I really haven't

driven the car that much since it was last changed. My last oil change was 11/12/05 (nearly 4 months ago) and since then I have only put 2,700 miles on the car. At the slow rate that I am putting miles on the car my guess is that I'll reach the 5K interval around May which would mean 7 months between oil changes.

Should I change it now and then change it again at my 60K servicing or do you think I'll be OK to wait until I do the 60K service?

It's oil, not milk. Leave it.

I say don't bother too, since you hardly drove your car (instead of making short trips)

Question for clarification, hardly driven at all, or driven daily but short distances???

Default Driven short distances every other day. Some weeks it may sit in the garage for 3 or 4 days before

I take her out. Now that Mrs. AdMan takes the commuter rail to work with me, we take her Explorer to the train station which makes me happy because it reduces the risk of my lovely A4 getting door dings in the commuter parking lot. =)))))

Default Personally, I'd change it at your preferred OCI or 6 mos, whichever comes first....

That's what my father used to recommend at his shop.

The cost of 6 Qt. of synth is, what, $30-36? And even if you get your mechanic do it, that, what, another $35?

Cheap insurance.

Default sniff the dipstick, smells like gas? black? change it.

short distance trips don't burn the moisture that occurs when the car is sitting around etc. they are the worst.

i actually change the oil on my corrado every 3 months or 300 miles, usually the 3 months comes up first, but i dont care to redo the rings because gasoline is a terrible lubricant.
