Default I plan on installing an amp/sub this weekend..

weather permitting. I plan to go to the battery or the power distribution block that another had spoke of for power, i have not decided...we will see where I can cross the firewall. running the power wire down the right side of the car under the plastic mouldings. Tapping the high levels to the stock sub and using a line converter to low level. Then use the RCA inputs on the amp. I will tap the wires at the stock amp behind the trunk liner. I also plan to snag the remote turn on from there. I will mount the amp to the back of the seat with the wires at the bottom so they are concealed. I have a 1.0 farad cap that I may or may not hook up.

I will try to take pics of everything and write a detailed description. Anyone have anything in particular you want me to snap a pic of or jot down? I will post the pics as soon as I get them back around middle of next week.

I have one question...anyone know of a good ground that I will not have to drill for inthe trunk?

Wish me luck!

Default I heard a good place for ground is....AND i have questions!!

You sound like you're doing EXACTLY what i'm planning on doing. I have an Xtant amp and a JL Audi 15W0 from my old car that i'm looking to install in my 2002 A4.

I read that the seatbelt mounts (down by the rear seats) work good for a ground, especially if you're mounting the amp to your rear seat.

1) How will you secure amp? Is seat wood? Can you just use wood screws?

2) How will you know which wire is for remote turn-on?

3) Are you still gonna leave stock sub hooked up or disconnect it entirely?

4) What brand of line converter are you using?

5) do you have bose or non-bose symphony system?

FYI: There's a guide online regarding removal of the 2002 A4 trunk liner (i don't have link in front of me, but let me know if you don't have it and i can find it if need be)

FYI2: Apparently, the best way to run power wire is from battery through ECU unit...there might even be unused grommets there.

I DEFINITELY look forward to your pics/write-up!

As far as pictures i could use a good one of where you end up running power wire (either through firewall or to fuse box)

Also, a good picture of how you remove kick panel and what not to run power wire through car, and also one of the ground you use and perhaps one of what the stock amp looks like and the wire colors you tap!

Thanks man, good luck!

Seems reasonably priced. Did you do the install yourself? Which kit did you get?

Default Sorry for asking a million questions but...

Can you see the film on the car? Is it very noticeable?
