if i remove the muffles, will it hurt performance?....

Why would you remove the mufflers? Yes, I believe removing the mufflers but leaving the (m)

"mid-muffler", would still remove enough restriction that it would lose some low end torque in exchange for a few high end horsepower.

But I would think it would sound horrible. If you're looking for a different sound, go for an aftermarket exhaust (keeping in mind that without a supercharger, the above power change will still occur).
