I think I need to replace my Immobilizer reader coil...
When starting my car; it stalls out about 25% of the time. I ran a VAG scan and found the following two faults:
17978 - Engine Blocked by Immobilizer
01176 - Key 07-10 - Signal too Low - Intermittent.
After STFA I've concluded that my Immobilizer reader coil is bad.
Can someone give me a part # for the reader coil? Also, where is the coil located, and how hard is it to install? Any other advice you guys may have on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Try re-matching your keys first...

AFAIK the reader is part of the ignition lock cylinder...I asked the parts guy
once and he couldn't find it, but anyways....
To access it you need to remove airbag, steering wheel, & remove or loosen steering column covers as it's just inside the lower cover around the ignition lock. In your case what I usually do is replace the wire terminals inside the connector for the reader (2 pin connector). You can try cleaning the contacts first. There are other components but that is what tech-line told me the first time and I haven't had one back yet (not that that means much).

The immo reader coil is actually(as Audi calls it) the induction coil...
and is located around the ignition key slot.
Its the round, black ring you pass your ignition key thru each time you start your Audi.
To date, your the first person I've heard of claiming its bad.
Try re-matching your keys, to see if it fix's the problem ;O)
