The backlight on the radio LCD display is on (no characters displayed) and the backlights on all of the radio buttons are on. And they all stay on regardless of whether the car is on or off. The other button backlights (ESP, environmental control, etc.) all turn off when I turn the car off, but the radio buttons and display backlight stay on. Also, the top section of the main console display, that normally shows the radio station, is black as if the radio is off completely.
Anybody seen this happen before? I don't think it's the anti-theft lockout, because that's supposed to display "SAFE" on the LCD when it's locked out.
I was driving my car earlier this morning and the radio was working just fine. I turned the car off for about 45 minutes and when I came back to the car, all the backlights on the radio were on. Weird, huh?

put it back in and then the radio went to safe mode. Found the code entered it and all has been well (that was about a year ago.)
Good luck!

Software bug.
Just take out the radio fuse and put it back in - it will reset.
I only had to do it once, but I mentioned it during my last service visit and they installed another one with the software update.

Give hte radio a good push, right below the tape deck. I don't mean nice, but a good push. The connections that the face slide into are right there and sometimes they might need to be pushed to get a good connnection again. This happened after I installed the stereo again.

Something about the wrong coding in the radio...can't figure out what that means, but go get yourself a new radio. The wait has been months for new radios so you may a well get your name on the list.
