i do not know how to drive manual...does that give possibility of me screwing up driving in tip mode for the 1.8t? or is the computer of the tiptronic smart enough to prevent harm done to tranny or engine?

if you dont shift the car does so at redline...
if you don't shift down the car will shift down anyway...
but its pretty much common sense and no worry of messing up the clutch you don't have

manual involves a clutch pedal
tip doesn't--computerized
not sure if you CAN screw up the tip. I screwed up my friends automatic accord one time shifting between 1-2-3 and drive, back and forth...

If you were on an open racetrack, you would not be able to do anything bad to the engine or tranny. However, in traffic, if you do not understand the concept of gear ratios and how they affect the dynamics of the car, you could find yourself in an accident very easily.
However, not understanding a manual and not knowing how to drive a manual are two different things. I find that most people who don't drive standards tend to be just the latter.

its all common sense and feel
with a manual tranny you run the potential risk of shifting into the wrong gear if you lose concentration...
the tiptronic can only be plus or minus so can you cant mean to downshift to 4th and accidentally hit 2nd...
it will come to you really quickly when you should shift...
put the car into Drive and run it fairly hard and you will kinda see how you should shift... but you'll want to hold each gear a bit longer before shifting up if you wanna get going
