Default If you ever wondered if that DIY TBA ever worked...

surprisingly...IT WORKS!

I just removed and cleaned my throttle body. After I put it back on I had a terrible idle, fluctuating like crazy. I did the do-it-yourself throttle body adaptation and it runs perfect again. Dealership was going to charge me $60 for re-adaptation. Anyways...so now my car idles smoother...also cleaned the intake manifold w/ carb cleaner.

thanks to a previous post by A4Rye!

Default too bad you didn't take pics of removing and cleaning the Throttle body-was it a PITA ?

i'd imagine you took the whole Throttle body off to clean it so you didn't soak the intake manifold

Default It was extremely easy...

Sorry no pics...my girlfriend has the camera. But heres a write-up.

- Remove that giant intercooler hose (unscrew it w/ flathead)
- unclip one harness
- Remove 4 torx screws
- Then the throttle body just comes out
- Remove 6 metal clips holding that black plastic cover on the throttle body so you can turn the gear that opens the throttle body valve making it easier to clean (you can just pry them off with a flat head but be careful b/c they'll fly off. I almost lost one)
- clean with some sort of cleaner of your choice (i just used seafoam and q-tips, rag)
- put it back together and put it back in the same way you took it out

For the intake manifold/combustion chamber I just sucked a little bit of carb cleaner into one of the vac nipples near the front of the intake mani while a friend was working the throttle so that the car didn't stall. Then I just shut the engine off and let it sit for a minute. Then started it back up and ran it until the smoke cleared.
