I also own both - but my S4 has been trouble free for 2+ yrs / 15k.
I'm wondering what your "reliability" issues have been. Actually breaking down, or smaller niggling problems unrelated to running/driving?
For me, the ideal Audi would indeed be the B6 platform with the 2.7T engine.
The only thing that limits my usage of the S4 is potential vandalism due to jealousy, headlight theft - or theft of the whole car, really.

Just upgraded from B5 2.8 to 3.0qms w/xenons. Couldn't be happier with current mods exept 1 more...
The only things I've added so far are my Phat Box and Parrot. In the spring I'll add a hitch for the bike rack and I'll be right back where I was with the B5 and better. No further mods planned.

if i had to pick something i would like to change, it would probably be going with darker tint. However, lately i look back and sometimes wish i would've purchased a 3.0 after seeing those G3 supercharger numbers
