Default I'm officially throwing caution to the wind... my overall mod plan & some pics (long)

I had been waffling for some time between keeping my A4 largely stock because I've been concerned about it's reliability (random electronic issues, power steering pump, etc), but I've decided to pursue a relatively comprehensive (albeit not too over-the-top) mod strategy, designed to enhance the overall performance of the car while still keeping it streetable and comfortable. As you can see, the majority of my mods are brake-oriented, because I felt the stock brakes were woefully inadequate, and now that I have the S4 brakes, I need to shift the braking balance further to the rear of the car (and get some proper pads for all 4 corners). Also, as you can see, I'm rather cautious about any powertrain mods, but I am considering either APR stage 1+, with the fuel injectors, or the more serious but twice as costly K-04/E05 route (which also requires a clutch almost immediately, something that APR 1+ will not for some time). My overall goal is a car that will be satisfying to drive on the street, and will perform well at autocrosses and maybe 4 or 5 track days per season. One of the most obvious mods you'll notice is absent from my list is springs and shocks- While I do feel that the stock sport setup has too much vertical motion, I'm waiting until my stock setup wears out before considering replacements- The sway bar should help tie the rear corners together and firm things up anyway, and will provide a much needed shift in the overall cornering behavior of the car from serious understeer to mild understeer (or even hopefully neutral, with some tire pressure fiddling). My primary concerns are handling and braking, but just like everyone else, I am tired of being beaten by every hopped up Civic or Corolla S I see. Anyway, those are my somewhat disorganized thoughts, and any commentary is welcome. (And yes,I know there's not much attention paid to the look of the car, but that's not really my thing. Wheels/wing/door blades is all I need.)

Default Move the clutch up the list

I can't speak for anyone else.... but my clutch can't even hold the torque of the GIAC or neuspeed chips. I've never launched it or cooked it, but it chatters when the torque peaks.

Really? That's discomfiting, I'd always heard the stock clutch was good for 275 lb/ft. Thanks.

Default about the exhaust...

Want to trade exhausts, Neuspeed for stock + a few bucks? I am in Lexington, MA and I am starting to put my car back to stock. This could be a good opportunity for both of us. Shoot me an e-mail if interested. shamel@h-m-inc.com
