Default Did not think of that.

How hard was it to do what you did? Any info you could give me would be great. Did you do it or did a shop? I would really like to do this but maybe a shop would be better.

Default BasicStamp is inadequate. Check out www.microchip.com and CAN chips...

Then you can buy development/demonstration kits for CAN (MCP2515, MCP25020, etc.) along with one of the microcontoller demo kits and start learning and experimenting. Later, buy a sniffer and monitor and decode the CAN headers, addresses, and other codes to build your project (because Audi doesn't share that information). You can also get information at www.iso.ch for the ISO standards and Audi does have a basic CAN technicians manual that provides clues.

Default Audi dealer sells Phatnoise server - you should get that: dealer install = factory warranty

Default yes, but at a significant price! almost $1G with install and the harness

I am beginning to loose interest with the Phatbox. I'd rather just spend maybe around $600 with a 1 GHz processor, run windows or linux with a 40GB harddrive too! I am working on a design plan over the weekend. Will post at some point next week.

Default I read somewhere where some guy did something to fix that problem...

If I remember correctly, he had the PC boot up when he unlocked his car, and had it shut down when he re-locked it.

I can't remember if I read about it on AW or some other webpage. He had a nice setup. Do a search, try Google even if AW fails you.

Default CANbus

To your knowledge, has anyone done this to figure out the Audi CAN implementation?

I'm designing a CAN controller at the moment using an 18F PIC solely to generate the CAN data for a Symphony II from my Concert I harness to get the front panel illumination etc. to work properly.

I'm lacking the Audi identifiers & data formats and that's a real showstopper. I'll have a crack at it myself but I don't want to re-invent the wheel.
