Default Installed new Plugs. Car now hesitates and stutters

Did a tune up and changed the oil, plugs and all filters. Put in the new E3 plugs thinking they would be better. Within five miles of driving the car started to hesitate upon accelerating and the check engine light kept flashing and then went on permanently. I replaced those plugs with the NGK originals and things settled down but I did notice when at idle the car would momentarily drop 100 or so rpm and then return to a smooth idle.

I then purchased some NGK plugs to replace the old ones. Well the car is once again stuttering with the check engine light on. Anyone have any thoughts? Could it be the coil packs? I really don't want to bring it to the Audi dealership to diagnose and correct.

Thanks.

Default Packs that came with the car in 2002...

Not sure of their designation but have not had a problem yet. That's why I think it's something else as it's too coincidental. Then again, maybe a pack was damaged when I did the install.

Default It's possible, you've been lucky that you still have the original packs. I also have an 02

and 2 packs had to be replaced because of failure.
To be on the safe side, I would change your packs to the latest ones just for safety's sake. And that might also be the culprit.

Default Continuous misfires, or intermittent, provoked by throttle position?

Buy a coilpack, and replace it on each cylinder in turn, if there is a bad CP, then you will find out that way. Swap the new cp for the #1 cylinder, start the engine, and see if the stutter has gone away, if not, move the new cp to cylinders #2 3, 4, each in turn.

Where's the best place to get the packs - Dealers or elsewhere?
