My Coupe switches are still like new - I'm sure your 90 ones were too. Why change a good design?

Default Yeah it's happened to many on here, yet AoA denies it's a problem...

when I called to complain, they said that they were not aware of such an issue, and that it is considered wear & tear on my part. I told them that I was aware of several other owners who experienced the same thing, and also questioned the quality of their materials, when I've never owned a car that did this. Sure it feels nice, but it makes no sense for them to put this crap in the car if it wears off!

Default Audi is aware of the problem....

They originally went to the rubber covered switch's because of customers, now are moving away because of customer complaints.

Its a visious cycle. ;O)

Mine are still fine. I apply 303 Aerospace to them every few months and they still look new.

Default A quasi-solution, permanent marker...

I have had two 2003 Audi A4 avants and I now have an Allroad. The wearing rubber on the buttons and switches is the worst in my Allroad.

My quasi-solution is to take a permanent marker and dab the areas where the rubber has worn off. You can tell it's not perfect, but it's better than having white spots lighting up at night. This may be worth giving a try instead of replacing an entire radio, climate control unit, light switch, window switch, or mirror switch.

It's important to "dab" with the marker tip, not swipe...

Does anyone know of any better solutions? Rubberized matte paint perhaps?

A couple choices I have run across. I have done neither; just living with the aged look:
