iPod Installation questions (DennisA4 please read)

I know this belongs in the Audio forum, but I would like DennisA4's response to this and I don't know if he reads that one.
I bought an IPod over the weekend and have been admiring the pictures of DennisA4's install for a few weeks now. I'm planning something similar, but I had a few questions. I'm going to try one of the Netalog TransPods since it has an FM modulator and car charger built into it.
I purchased (I'm returning I when my testing is over) an IRock FM modulator to test the performance and it suits my needs for sound quality, so I think the TransPod is a good solution. Especially as I plan to have my IPod in the car almost exclusively unless I'm loading it with new tracks. It is also less expensive than blitzsafe adapter, car charger, and Monster ICable combination.
I think the TransPod is roughly the size of the cell phone mount in DennisA4's pictures.
These questions are for DennisA4:
Does the iPod get in the way at all? How much clearance do you have for shifting? Also, is it easy to navigate the IPod in the location by the gearshift? Do you find yourself taking your eyes off the road for more than a second or two? I apologize for the slew of questions, but I can't get the TransPod locally. I want to have a good idea of whether it will work or not before I order it. Thanks for any help you can provide.
You can search on the Transpod at J and R Music and Computers if you haven't seen one yet.

I have used my iPod in my car since X-mas with a cass adapter. (Stil waiting for Autotoys to send my Blitzsafe, WORST company EVAR!!!!)
Anyway, I dont like the idea of having the iPod mounted in one spot. I perfer to be able to pick it up and hold in in my hand to make selections.
I plan on using a thin wire to come up thru the ashtray area where I can just plug it in and rest it on the console. I got the iSkin jacket which is like a rubber suit, keeps the iPod protected and the rubber keeps it from sliding around.
For me the iPod display is too small and too fussy to be able to just glance down quickly to change music.

If you mount it where i have it, the only time it might get in the way is when putting the car in reverse. My hand might slightly tap the iPod. No biggie and I know it's there so I'm aware of it when i put the car in reverse. It is a little hard to see the screen during the day. You have to be careful when looking at it and i try not to if i can help it. It's very easy to find the advance button so if I don't like a song i just hit that without looking. If you are trying to navigate to find certain song or artist, that's dangerous and i try to do that only when stopped at a light or something. But i am thrilled with my install, it's working out beautifully. It's totally removable, it's no harder to take with me than if the iPod was just sitting on the seat next to me, it's easy to access without looking, and it sounds great.
Does the transpod hardwire into the stereo or is it fm modulated. Sound quality would be the only thing i would be worried about.

scrolling through a few thousand songs or hundreds of artists is tough (especially when driving). I wired mine into the glovebox and let a passenger operate it (if I have a passenger). Otherwise I leave it on shuffle play and skip songs via the wired remote that I wired in next to the center console. I wouldn't say that the location is ideal, but it works pretty well.

The transpod is FM modulated. I live in Harrisburg, PA, so we have LOTS of free space on the radio waves with no interference. Is the sound quality loss from FM modulation due to a radio station walking over your signal or is quality lost by the fact you're coming in via air waves as opposed to a wire?

I was thinking about a way to get the remote to work with an adapter. Guess I should just ask in here instead of trying to come up with something on my own. Seems like someone has done or at lest tried everything......
