iPod line output hook up help requested for 2004 ultrasport
I'm catching up to reality, and switched to iPod for my car. FM tuner iPod connection isn't great, I've found a couple web sites that advertise direct cable hookups for Audi, from line output at bottom of iPod to back of car stereo.
I don't need controls in the stereo, I'm happy working off the iPod. Anyone out there done this themselves. If so, what do you recommend? A couple questions:
1. How to get to back of stereo to plug in cable from iPod?
2. Where do you keep the iPod in the car, like in a mount off dashboard?
3. Anyone put the iPod in center console, if so how do you get the cable there from stereo?
thanks ahead, I'm sure stuff about this has already been written in here......

Yes, this stuff has been written and discussed multiple times here already.
People like us even posted DIY on connecting the OEM Audi iPod Adapter with complete with pics. Others recommend third-party Adapters which lets you control iPod directly.
1. You need 4 special keys or if you also search here, you can fabricate keys from a template using old credit cards.
2. OEM style is in the glove box. I relocated mine to the console beside the gear shift.
3. As I said, mine is on the center console. The supplied cable is long enough to run along the bottom of the front passenger side then up. If you want to be more creative, dremmel is your friend. But that irreversible so I wouldn't mind a thin wire exposed.
I (we) promise you if you search the archives, you will find the common answers most are looking for. When those are exhausted come back and ask more.
