issues with my V1.
So i was on a LONG straight road, doing speed limit.. no problems. I see a cop at least 1/2 mile ahead of me.. only with a faint X-Band signal. As he got closer.. the strength went up to many 2 dots.. when he was 50 feet from me.. IT WENT FULL BLOWN SOLID BEEEEEP with full strength. There was a perfect line of sight the entire highway... Why did it take so long before the V1 got a full reading? New type of radar? If i didnt see the cop.. i would've considered the signal false when it was weak... luckily i saw it was a cop before the V1 did. what's up with this?

I think this would be the best conclusion. When traffic is light it is easier for
police to catch speeders by just "gunning" the vehicles that are in range or suspected. It doesn't allow you to identify them through your radar detector. In medium to heavy traffic this is very uncommon.

Cops Still use X? where do you live?
I haven't seen a cop using X-band...well ever...and I have had a radar detector for the past 3 and a half years.
I am in Baltimore and on the east coast Ka is always a cop, and K is sometimes a cop, but usually one of those "your speed is XX, you should be going 55" type of things. Where do you live that they still shoot X? X also has a much shorter range then K and Ka so if it was a really long straight away the X band radar might not have had the range to get to your detector.
But then laser is where you have to be careful because if he shoots you with it and the V1 detects it he already knows your speed, but you can get lucky if he shoots someone just ahead of you and it happens to pick up the signal as laser is instant on instant speed detection
Let me know what you think, or if you have any comments...

Our patrol cars have a toggle switch, from pause to on. I can click it on at the last second to...
get a reading. I like to have fun with it now and then, especially when I see someone with a radar detector. Sit at a traffic light, then I hit the toggle on/off and you see the radar light up then go off, after a few times of that the person usually unplugs it. When you sit in a patrol car for so long, you have to find some fun here and there.
