snow tires on your 17s every season- That would suck. It's far easier to change wheels than tires. Also, you want a smaller, narrower tire (hence, wheel) in winter, to dig into the snow with a smaller contact patch.

then i'd turn those into winter rims and get somethign nice for summer, preferably in 18".
my mom runs on 17" snows, you can handle it ;-)
only one 19" snow tire on the market right now (nokian wr). pain in the *** to hunt down, but 18" wasn't gonna cut it this winter ;-)

which sort of precludes using the same rim for both sets of tires.

rims get destroyed in the winter, and are best dedicated for the task -- nevermind that after a few years, all of the mounting/unmounting/balancing will have paid for the winter rims.

"snows and all seasons for the 17s," and I was advising against that for exactly the reason you mention- the cost and annoyance of un- and re-mounting tires each season.

and they look too small...even my friend's gf thinks so (i don't trust my own girl for an honest opinion about the car...she knows how much it means to me)
but yeah, that mounting and unmounting bit is a strong argument for getting 16" snows and a separate summer set

but i don't have the money (and i'm kinda unsure about running larger rims in the summer as i drive in a lot of places with really ****ty pavement)
