I just got my 2002 A4 Avant - after a 5 month wait! 1.8T, manual, sport, sunroof, xenon, premium - basically everything except the heated seats/skisack and Bose.

First impressions:
What a tight car. The chassis is very stiff and the sport suspension is incredible. Very sharp handling and quick turn in, yet not as harsh as i'd expect. It's no cadillac, but i'm impressed with the balance of crisp handling yet compliant over rough stuff. nice.

The engine is pretty snappy and it's fun when the torque curve hits, but there could be a touch more oomph. It's plenty quick and the power rush that comes on at 3500 ish is fun, but a little more snap at the top would be a blast. APR - i'm ready when you are.

Quality/paint/interior: Top drawer. My friends are openly floored by 'what a freakin nice car' it is. The Avant has gotta be the best looking wagon out there. I'm happy as hell with it. You can fit a LOT of stuff back there.

Gripes: The center console - it rubs my upper shin (6'2") not that bad, but i notice it. I've noticed a very slight surging when going up steep hills for aan extended period of time. Perhaps it will disappear after break in.
Break in: I'm not baby'ing it TOO much. I'll drive it hard-ish for a short while and let it cool off. I'm revving it up near readline *softly* sometimes to wear everything evenly. A friend of mine works for Audi and their press demo cars get driven HARD right off the boat. He has not heard of any problems with them down the road.
Here are some pictures of my machine
We all have a wicked car!!!

...Got mine about 1 1/2 months ago (also silver) and the new Avant is much, much nicer than my '99 Avant. Seems you are liking yours as much as I like mine. Happy highways to you!
