Default With the old "I can not be responsible" disclaimer being inferred, yes..

I did that with my symphony II when I realized the CD's were still inside after I took the unit out for my aftermarket install. It came on in safe mode (still have to push the "power on" button... duh).
12V constant, can-bus, and ground. If you don't have can-bus, then I'm not sure. Try it without..

If you have voltmeter check your 12V source for juice; even if fuse is good, something could happen?

there were 3 harnesses not 2..

when i had my carputer in there i shoved the other harness down below the HVAC and didnt find it till now... hahaha

Default the pins on the radio are pretty damn close to eachother.

I would be scared of grounding out the stereo and causing internal damage. Use a voltmeter and check your power source in the harness. If nothing on the front where the stereo connects to the harness...check the backside of the harness to make sure it hasn't suffered any damage. If you don't get any power there (try a couple different grounds to make sure) then let me know and we will do some more trouble shooting.
