Default Yes and no...

From my experience with a WRX (with a big *** turbo):

K&N pod air filters (with complete removal of your stock airbox and some of the piping) = Yes, it will give you significantly better high rpm performance. You will lose some low rpm throttle response because the intake is shorter and has a lesser volumn due to the removal of the airbox and piping.

K&N replacement air filter for the standard airbox = No, little to no performance improvement mainly due to K&N air filter element, which is nearly as restrictive as the OEM air filter element.

If you want to retain the standard airbox, try sponge type replacement air filter. Some improvement in throttle response at the low rpm and very cost effective.

Yeah I'd go with that instead of the K&N.

main advantage is you can clean it when ever you want. It you are careful oiling it you will be fine

Default for the money, buy an ITG filter - its a little bit more than a K&N but not much

the K&N (which I have in mine) doesn't do much for performance. The main reason why I got it is because I don't need to pay for a new stock filter everytime I go in for an oil change.

Default That makes sense... I guess the second time you go to buy a new filter then K&N has already

paid for itself and more.
