My '04 is < 6 months old...just turned 5k. Manual, black, loaded. My dealer has some black S4 automatics he wants to unload, my lease payment will go up nominally...
Do I take the 2005 S4 automatic or keep enjoying my 6-speed?
What would you do?

whichever it is, ask yourself how important it is to have that transmission....personally, I'd look for an S4 6speed. If your dealer can get you in an S4 Auto with a nominal increase, they CAN do it on a 6speed too....

it shouldn't be a problem, even if they don't want to discount it as much, the starting price will be less because the 6 speed is cheaper....

Without knowing all the details...the dealer has S4 Tips left becuase the S4s 6spd is sold out, they have no invetory. Thats why they are trying to part with them. I dont think they would then GO find him a 6spd, bring it in, only to cut the same deal.
He does have the fact that the 6 will cost less and no gas guzzler, along with the fact that there trying to get rid of the B6s for B7 allocation....but the whole, find him a B6 Spd and make the same deal I doubt. No reason a dealer would do that, only for them to take a hit.

lets say the S4 6 speeds are sold out (he never stated that, but we'll pretend). Thats fine....They can easily do a courtesy trade with another dealership, trading a tiptronic for a 6speed. Once they sell him the 6 speed they are now down another unit, just as if they had sold him the tiptronic. Regardless of the B7 coming, its December.......Right now each and every dealership is doing everything they can to move as much inventory as possible, trying to make their year end #'s look good.
If the 6 speed S4's are in stock, than there is no reason they can't give him that same deal....

but i agree, the dealer's willing to cut a deal because they want to clear out the existing inventory
