OK, I got the Labree HFC installed yesterday. Couple quick comments:
- butt dyno thinks theres a gain in HP, maybe slight TQ as well, no #'s from before and I dont expect to hit a dyno any time soon
- turbo is spooling much easier now
- loud, changed my entire exhaust tone
- hot, I popped the hood after I got home and I think its hotter then stock. Wouldnt surprise me though, theres no heat shield on it. Good thing my port, polish and coated exhaust manifold is almost done
The inlet measures 3" and the outlet to DP measures 2.5". Also, I got my gaskets direct from Busdepot, they are OEM gaskets and I got 2 of each for $17 shipped total.
As for my stock cat, I was very much right that it was making the noise I was hearing. the catalyst had seperated from the piping and was just moving around in there.
The cost of my install was $250, the shop that did it did not remove my intake instead did everything from under the car which I thought was weird. They also had originally quoted me $140 but when I got there I knew something had gone wrong because they had the torch out. Apparently one of the bolts had rusted on there and they had to use a torch to get it off.
I just got off the phone with the fine folks at Labree to clear up the cell count issue that had been asked. They are currently offering two types of cats in their HFC. One is a 400 cell ceramic (they said it should not throw a CEL) and one is a 300 cell metal type (they said it might throw a CEL). you can request either one when you order, they cost the same. I have the 300 cell.
They didnt mention what company it was but said they have stopped using carsound all together as they had far too many problems with them.
I cant say enough good things about the guys at Labree, they know their stuff and put out quality parts. They were actually making the jig for a B7 HFC when I called them. Remember to order direct if you order from them though!
as for a CEL update, I didnt quite make it to woodbridge virginia today, got stuck north of baltimore when they closed I95 today for what was apparently a pretty bad accident. I did drive about 215 miles between turning around and going into the office and then coming back home. No CEL yet. Will keep updating as the miles rack up.

Full thread over on AZ

Last time I spoke to them inquiring a full exhaust and asked if by changing to a HiFlow CAT will my emissions still be legal, and he replied not anymore. It will only be legal from downpipe onwards.
Maybe they improved their product already?
