Default Lend me your ears ...

Wouldn't you know it. I was hoping the high pitched noise I hear from the vents would have gone away by now but no such luck.

I haven't seen much of a discussion about this so I've either got very very tuned in hearing or this is an isolated issue.

Anyway, please post if you have had a chance to listen to your climate control at 2-3 bars. I know what air is supposed to sound like but I swear if I move my head around I hear a sort of doppler effect of a very high pitched whistle type sound. To me it sounds like one of the vent actuator things isnt close properly or someone decided to put a piece of grass or something in my vents.

I know I've asked about this before but I figure there are more '02s out now and more board members so I gotta try

btw, turn signal went out for about 10hrs ..4-5th time now.

The doppler effect is a percieved change in frequency due to your velocity vector...

At the point of the perceived change I tend to stop my head. It still sounds like a high pitched sound that is unrelated to me moving my head.

Default thus it is not a doppler phenenomen... (more)

I would assume one of the baffles or vents in the HVAC duct is loose or damaged, and the velocity is causing an oscillation along the order of the natural frequency of the assembly. Basically, what you said you thought it was.

Iv'e not noticed this in my car, but would have foe sure if it were there...

Two solutions: (1) Open all vents fully. (2) Wait a few years 'till your hi freq hearing diminishes

Default Re: got it too ...

I wasn't going to ask, figured prob. something particular to my car ... but it's a very faint high-pitched "chirping." It sounds like the fan motor to me, really ruins driving without the radio on, a bit like Chinese water torture. I found that turning the middle vents down about 1/2 way mutes it fairly well, but then I miss air on my face. Weird.
