Refinished my stock 17s today (Winter set up). Decided to go with a Gunmetal gray color instead of Silver. The wheels came out very nice IMO. Took about 5 hours total from sanding down the wheels to painting.
Materials used:
Simple Green
320 Grit sandpaper
Tack Cloth
Dupli-Color prep wipe
Dupli-Color Primer (FP102)
Dupli-Color Wheel Coating (HP102) - Graphite
The wheel coating actually has metallic properties in it. It's a very durable wheel paint and very glossy like a OE finish. Was developed specifically for painting wheels. Did a lot of research before deciding on a wheel paint. A few guys over on AZ has used this wheel paint and has not had problems with the finish. One of them has been running wheels with this paint for 2 years, no chipping, peeling, dulling, etc.
After sanding:

2 coats:

If anyone is interested in a write up, let me know and I can put one together.

See you tomorrow.
Hey, can you bring your VAG-COM. I have a CEL I want to pull the code(s) for.
Thanks.

Also, if you can bring your VAG-COM tomorrow that would be nice. I have a CEL that popped up this week and I want to confirm if it is my EVAP leak again.

My wheels (Same ones, but I use them year round) have some bad scratches/scuffs... I was thinking about sanding them and painting them black (black car), but the gunmetal would be cooler looking...
Any sort of writeup definitely appreciated!

If you could do a write up that would be great; I'd like to do this to the set of wheels I pick up for if/when I track the car....
Again, great job. I'd like to see what they look like on the car
