Default Long-term review of Ferodo DS2500 pads on the AP Racing BBK....

Well I have had a chance to put about 8K miles on this set of Ferodo DS2500 pads. As secretely as it is kept, these pads are the chosen pad to accompany the AP Racing BBK.

For the streets, these pads have performed flawlessly. The initial bit when the pads are completely cold is phenominal. You can start the car, pull it out of the driveway, and panic stop the car and they pull the car down as quickly as when they are warm. Initial bite is much more pronouced than stock. I personally like a pad that bites right away. As for noise, not a peep in 8K miles. Nothing. No little mice or little squeals. Your results may vary, but that is what I have found. Now the issue of dust. I would consider them to be moderately dusty pads. You will definitely see the dust. Brake fade is non existent, but ill address that more in a second. The pads life expectancy appears to be quite good. It does break down quicker than a ceramic, but then it bites a lot better too.

On the track, this pad has performed equally as outstanding. I had no intention of considering this as a track pad, but thought i'd try it out just the same. On a high speed track, I can see how the breaking down of the pad may become an issue in an endurance event, but this pad has held up remarkably well to 40 minute runs on the big track and it laughs at autocrossing. Pad material breaks down into the rotor slots, but no deposites are left on the rotor. Fade was a non issue on even the most demanding of full throttle/full brake conditions.

I would definitely recommend this as a street and autocross pad. Easily the best pad I have owned thus far.

cheers! Mike

Think they'd be good for the rear axle too?

Default Sure, why not. I use a ceramic on the rear so they practically never need to be changed...

But these would even out the bite a bit and I may use them on the rear as well. cheers! Mike
