Hello folks,
So last night while driving home I had the dummy light for washer fluid go off... No big deal I thought... so on my way to work I stopped off and bought a bottle. During lunch I filled up the reservoir, but when I returned to the car a few hours later, I found a puddle and a slow drip under the driver's side front corner. I popped the hood and found that 1/2 of the fluid had leaked out over 5 hours in a slow drip.
When I got home I pulled the cover over the fog lamps, and removed the drivers side head lamp. I put my hands down into the well where the lamp washer was mounted, and I felt fluid dripping from the bottom of the washer unit. I couldnt tell if the fluid was coming from the washer unit or leaking from the fitting where the feed line met the washer.
What I need to know is:
1) How do I get the washer out of the bumper w/o taking the bumper off
2) What typically goes bad on these things
3) Once I get the pump out, can I fix it E.g. w/ RTV sealant.
4) IF I cant fix the unit (Since it does still work) how can I block it off to keep from losing fluid, and what is the cost of replacement in the long run.
Thanks in advance.
Cheers
Martin.
