Default From a Lotus Elise to a Audi A4 1.8T....

Hi everyone,

Totally new to this forum. I just picked up a 04' 1.8T 6MT w/ ultra sports package. I actually ordered a Lotus Elise and will pick it up sometime around the end of this year...but after test driving the Audi on Sat, I was totally sold by its appearance with the ultra sport. Looks like a poor man's S4. =P

Yep, big difference between the Lotus & A4...so I'm all prepared for those Elises to smoke me. But that's cool, I love that car. Anyway, back to the A4. Got some questions for you guys since I've hearing about the great potential of the 1.8T...Man, am I bitter that the VW GTI 1.8T has 190hp?!

1. Should I chip it when it's so new? Any warmup or breakin time for the car before I chip it?

2. Should I even chip it before my warranty expires? Any problem for those that chipped theirs?

3. Any other easy and economic upgrades should I consider other than the chip?

4. Any nice classy aftermarket grilles out there?

Thanks everyone!!

Sorry dude, I was closed, but never get to even choose the options. Plus, I've already called my dealer this morning to cancel the order, since my spot is not transferable at my dealership. And I hate the hassle of buying it, then selling later. Even with possibility of making a few grand out of it.

I also have a 2004 Black Ultra 1.8TQ6M and after about 2,000 miles, I decided to chip w/ GIAC. Your best bet are GIAC (www.giac.com)and REVO. There was also a group buy for the thermal exhaust system if you're interested. www.ecodetuning.com

Going back to your question:

1) I would wait till you hit past 2,000 miles. I would take it easy the first 1,000 miles. After that, you should be able to drive normal w/out revving it too high.

2) you can either purchase the "soder" method which is the old way but now you can get your oem ecu "flashed." This way, the dealer won't know if you're chipped. Yes and no as far as voiding the warranty. Depends on the service shop.

3) I would do diverter valve and maybe exhaust. After modifying mine w/ ecu/dv/exhaust, I noticed a big difference.

4) I'd go w/ Oettinger grill. Do a search..someone here has it and its nice!

Hope I've answered your question. BTW, what color did you get? Don't forget to TINT that baby.

the pic ABOVE is actually photochopped but I'm expecting them this week They are 19" Moven GT2's.

Default You backed-out of the Elise? My deposit is in and I'm buying the car no matter what.

I have a deposit for an Elise. No way I'm backing out and I can't wait to submit my order. I'm going to order Bordeaux Red Pearl with Sport and Touring packages.

I have a '97 A4 2.8Q but I just picked-up a used 2002 A4 Avant 3.0 Tip. I think with the Elise my 2003 Mustang Mach 1 and my 1984 Mustang SVO, it's the perfect combination!

Default I backed out on the Elise also..

I backed out because the closest dealer was 3 hours away, that's just too much for me. My order came up in early April. I purchased the A4 instead. I'm probably going to pick up a 2005 Corvette and have fun with it.

I think I'm going to wait for the Exige.
