Hello,
Just looking for some reliable information with regard to lowering a 01' 1.8T, the car has the standard suspension set up with 16"wheels, (std. European quattro wheels), I can buy off the self lowering springs that will drop the from 20mm to 35mm. If I was to drop the car say 30mm can I expect any rubbing etc. also will this have any effect on the standard shocks and related bushings?
Thank You in advance.

Back to your original question. Any time you change the spring rate/stiffness or the length, you should use the appropriate shock to match that change. In other words if you have a standard, non sports suspension on your car and you just change the springs to lower and stiffen your ride, the dampers(shocks) will have not been calibrated to work in conjunction with these new springs. The ride might be bouncy and the dampers might wear out prematurely. It is not recommended to do it this way. The best solution is, if you change your springs, change your dampers.
